Important Note: For all emergencies, please contact Campus Security (403) 343-4000. RDP’s Campus Security members are trained in emergency response, first aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use.

Our Team

At Campus Health & Wellbeing Services, our team consists of registered health nurses who are committed to maintaining a safe environment where students and employees can feel supported and receive confidential nursing care on a walk-in or appointment basis pertaining to their emotional and physical wellbeing as well as community referrals, immunization review and disability management.

Our team also hosts a variety of events throughout the year with a focus on creating healthy work and life habits.

  • Injury and burn first aid treatment

The Serenity Room

Looking for a space for quiet reflection, meditation, or prayer? The Serenity Room is dedicated space for students, staff and faculty to do just that. 

  • Room 2400
  • Open 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
  • During evenings, weekends and holidays, you may request a key from the main security desk (picture ID is required)

As a reminder, this room is not intended for eating, sleeping, studying or meetings.

If you are unwell, stay home to take care of yourself and to keep our campus community healthy.
Wash/Sanitize your Hands
Wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer regularly. More than 300 hand sanitizer stations have been installed throughout our campuses.

General Information
  • If you are ill, please do not come to RDP's campuses until you are well. Seek medical assistance if needed.
     
  • Refer to the Government of Alberta's website for current recommendations regarding respiratory illnesses.  
Courses, Labs & Seminars
  • Contact your instructor if you are ill. Be sure to discuss any upcoming exams or assignments with them. 
  • Follow any illness-reporting protocols that each of your instructors has established and shared for your courses, labs and seminars.  
  • If your instructor is ill, they will either: 
    • Move the class online (if possible) if they are symptomatic but well enough to teach, OR
    • Cancel class, if they are unwell.  
  • Information about class cancellations will be posted on your classroom door and also shared as a message through BlackBoard. 
Final Exams & Course Completion

If you are unwell when you have a final examination scheduled, you can apply for a Deferred Final Examination, as identified in the Final Examinations Policy. Students should submit completed forms with medical documentation to admissions@rdpolytech.ca. You will receive an email to your RDP email address with further information. 

If you cannot complete your courses as a result of illness, you can apply for a late drop. A late drop does require documentation that you are ill. The Late Drop Request should be submitted to admissions@rdpolytech.ca

Information for All Faculty & Staff
  • If you are ill, please do not come to RDP's campuses until you are well. Seek medical assistance if needed.
  • Refer to the Government of Alberta's website for current recommendations regarding respiratory illnesses.
  • Contact your supervisor (Director, Dean, Associate Dean, Chair, Manager, etc.) to discuss working arrangements if you are unwell.   
  • Access your TELUS Health (formerly LifeWorks account) to connect with a variety of support services. 
  • If your illness lasts more than five days, faculty and staff members should contact Campus Health & Wellbeing Services (formerly the Health, Safety & Wellness team) to discuss Short Term Disability. Please see the People and Culture tab on TheLoop for Collective Agreement and Sick Leave information.
