Apprenticeship Testing in Testing Services
Effective Monday, January 18th, 2021:
The Test Centre on RDC's main campus has re-opened and limited in-person service-delivery has resumed. Due to COVID-19 capacity limitations and required health and safety protocols currently in place, in-person service includes only pre-scheduled accommodated exam invigilation at this time.
In general, Apprenticeship Testing is currently being facilitated online and students are completing their testing remotely, as per the directions provided by the instructor of each program. However, students with approved exam accommodations may:
- Complete exams in-person in the RDC Test Centre by following the instructions below
- Continue completing exams remotely by working with instructors to facilitate approved exam accommodations IF in-person exam completion is not a requirement for the course
If you encounter difficulties with facilitating or accessing exam accommodations, please contact test [dot] centre [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca (Testing Services) to explore available options.
IMPORTANT: Everyone who comes to RDC's campuses is required to follow specific steps to help reduce exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Please visit the Coming to Campus webpage for full information on these requirements.
Students enrolled in Competency-Based Apprenticeship Training (CBAT) Programs determine their own testing schedule and write their supervised exams in Testing Services. When you are ready to write a supervised exam, simply check-in at the Testing Services Main Desk during testing hours to access a testing space. No appointment is necessary.
Writing Supervised Exams in Testing Services
You will be required to provide valid photo ID (your RDC iCard or government-issued photo ID) upon checking-in for your exam.
Personal belongings are not permitted in the testing labs, with the exception of those necessary for accommodations and any instructor-approved testing resources. Lockers are available free-of-charge while writing exams in Testing Services (limited supply; offered on a first-come, first-served basis).
Accommodated Exams for Apprenticeship Students
If you are enrolled in an Apprenticeship Program at RDC and are eligible for exam accommodations, you will find the necessary space, supports, and technologies available in Testing Services to accommodate your testing needs.
CBAT Students (Testing Schedule Determined by Student): Simply request to use your approved exam accommodations upon checking-in for your exam. If you have an approved exam accommodation for an alone space, please book your space at least 48 hours in advance to ensure availability (bookings can be scheduled in-person at the Testing Services Main Desk or by contacting Testing Services at 403.342.3292 or test [dot] centre [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca).
Non-CBAT Students (Testing Schedule Determined by Instructor): Your accommodated exams will be scheduled in advance by the course instructor and you will receive an email confirmation (sent to your RDC email address) for each exam once it has been booked. Please contact test [dot] centre [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca (Testing Services) if you have not received this confirmation at least 48 hours prior to your exam writing date.
Additional Main Desk Services (Currently Unavailable due to COVID-19)
In addition to writing your supervised exams, you may also visit the Testing Services Main Desk to sign-out laptops, borrow Apprenticeship resources (including code books, writing utensils, and supplies), access basic technology troubleshooting, and more.
