Residence Common Area

Interested in living on campus while you attend RDC?

See the process below to register for Residence. Please note that you must have conditional or clear admission into a program at Red Deer College to begin this process. If you do not have conditional or clear admission you must wait until this is received before applying for Residence.

Dates

Full-Time Students

October 1: Applications go live for the full academic year (Sept-April) and the fall term (Sept-Dec)
November 1: Applications go live for the winter term (Jan-April)
February 1: Applications go live for the spring and summer months (May-Aug)

Apprenticeship Students

You can begin applying for Residence after you have registered in your course.

Fees

All Canadian applicants are required to pay a $40 non-refundable application fee to process the application.

All international applicants are required to pay a $60 non-refundable application fee to process the application.

This fee must be paid online through Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.

Re-apply

If you currently live in Residence and want to live in Residence for the next school year, you may apply on or after October 1. Residence staff do not assume you are coming back. It is your responsibility to re-apply every year.

Roommate Request

Roommate requests are facilitated through your Residence application. To begin this process, view the Roommate Request tab on your application in the Residence Portal. Roommate requests must be mutual through this process.

Waitlist

Residence fills up quickly and if you are not immediately accepted, you may be wondering if it is worth putting your name on the waitlist. Most definitely! We have, in previous years, gone through a waitlist upwards of 300 people. You need to take into account that throughout the summer, applicants drop out of the waitlist due to lack of funding, choosing a different institution or a number of other personal reasons. So hang in there. Phone back throughout the summer to confirm your waitlist position, and if by the middle of July you are still far back in the waitlist, it may be time to consider off-campus housing. The best thing you can do is apply as early as possible.
