Admission, Registration and Information Services 

Reception Services (telephone and front counter) are open from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Telephone callers can still contact staff and departments if they dial direct or use the dial-by-name calling feature when the phone is set to after-hours mode. 

Until further notice, Admission, Registration and Information Services are available for online and phone services only.

Campus Store and The Pulse

New and used textbooks, course packs, ILMs, art and other supplies can be ordered online from RDC's Campus Store or by calling 403.342.3245. 

Textbooks may also be available through the Used Bookstore operated by the Students’ Association of Red Deer College.  

Curbside Pick-Up

The Campus Store is currently closed for in-person shopping, but course materials and items can be shipped to your house or they are available through curbside pick-up starting August 24.

Once you purchase your course materials and supplies online, you can request curbside pick-up which will be available Monday to Friday from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Once you are at RDC, call the Campus Store at 403.342.3245 and staff will bring your order to you. Curbside pick-up is in Parking Lot C on the north side of the Library. 

Digital Textbooks 

When ordering online, if the textbook says "choice," it will give digital or print options. Not all course materials are currently available in digital format, but the Campus Store is working with publishers to increase the availability of digitalized content.

Child Care Centre

RDC's Child Care Centre re-opened on Monday, August 17.

Counselling Services

Flexible Learning

Food Services

Limited food services will be available on campus this Fall Term: 

  • FarSide Bar and Grill: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday to Friday 
  • Vending machines throughout Main Building and in the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre 

Starting August 31, physically distanced seating areas will be available for eating throughout the main building and the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. All students and employees will be required to adhere to the posted masking guidelines throughout the food service and eating areas. People are asked not to move tables and furniture, as eating areas have been set up to accommodate physical distancing. Complete details are available at Food Services

Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre 

RDC continues to monitor and adapt our operations in response to COVID-19. In accordance with current Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Government of Alberta guidelines, we are pleased to announce the re-opening of certain spaces within RDC’s Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.  Face coverings are now required in all common spaces in the Centre. 

Here are the latest updates:

  • RDC’s Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone and Border Paving Running Track in the Centre is open, with limited hours and capacity, and the health and safety of our clients and staff in mind
  • A maximum of 30 people are allowed in the Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone at one time
  • High-intensity physical or cardio activity equipment (e.g. treadmills and elliptical machines) will be organized so that every third item can be used
    • As of September 8, the Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone and Border Paving Running Track's new hours are as follows:
      • Monday to Friday (6:00 am – 8:00 pm)
      • Saturday and Sunday (8:00 am – 4:00 pm)
        • The middle lane of the track will be closed. The inside lane will be used for running, and the outside lane will remain open for passing
        • A maximum of four people will be permitted on the running track at one time, with walking allowed during non-designated running times
  • Larkaun Homes Squash Courts will remain closed for now  
  • Drop-in activities will not be available at this time  
  • Personal training is available. Assessments will be conducted virtually, until further notice. Please email Gregory Howe, RDC's Varsity Strength & Conditioning Specialist, at Gregory [dot] Howe [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca for more details   
  • Fitness classes will resume in the fall. Further details will be available in the coming weeks  
  • Community change rooms are open
  • Washrooms are open, but showers are unavailable
  • The opening of other spaces within the Centre will be assessed on an ongoing basis, according to AHS guidelines

Health, Safety and Wellness Centre

Red Deer College students, faculty and staff are asked to contact the Health, Safety and Wellness Centre by emailing Health [dot] Safety [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca if they suspect they have COVID-19 or if they have tested positive for the illness. 

IT Services

In-person and walk-in traffic at IT Services is closed at this time to encourage social distancing. 

IT Services team members remain available to assist students and employees, and remote support options are available. 

Individuals can call IT Services and arrange a time to drop-off a laptop or other College devices for servicing.

Starting August 31 and continuing throughout Fall Term, RDC's Library will be open for in-person and online assistance. 

The hours for in-person visits are:  

  • Monday - Friday: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm  
  • Saturday: Closed  
  • Sunday: 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm  

Online consultation will be available:  

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 9:00 pm  
  • Friday: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm  
  • Saturday: 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm  
  • Sunday: 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm  

All in-person activities at the Library will follow Alberta Health Physical Distancing Protocols for capacity. Please note the following new procedures that will begin on August 31: 

  • To study or use Library facility:  
    • Students, faculty and staff will be required to use an online booking tool to reserve a space  
    • Any quick, drop-in activities such as getting help at the desk or picking up a book placed on hold (see below) do not need to be booked using the online tool 
  • To access Library resources: 
    • All electronic resources can continue to be accessed through the Library’s guides 
    • Students, faculty and staff can access physical resources such as books by placing a hold in advance 
  • To use Library services: 
    • All Library services will be available either in-person or online throughout Fall Term  
    • These include research and citation help, technology assistance, writing, ESL and math tutoring, learning skills and strategies, and disability resources  

Please note that, at this time, RDC’s Library will be open to students, faculty and staff, but not to the general public.

Print Centre

Faculty, staff, employees, students and community members can still place orders with the Print Centre. Due to health & safety protocols in response to COVID-19, it is necessary for the Print Centre to set a date and time for orders to be completed. In addition, we will make arrangements to meet you at the RDC Curbside Pick-Up Location when necessary. Faculty, staff and employees, who are working on campus, can still pick up their orders in-person at the Print Centre.

The hours of operation are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am-4:30 pm, with pre-arranged pick-up of orders between 9:00 am-3:30 pm at the College. 

Once you've received the pre-arranged time from the Print Centre for your order to be picked up, please call the Print Centre at 403.342.3302 when you arrive at the Curbside Pick Up Location, and we will meet you in Parking Lot C on the north side of the Library. 


Residence is open and still accepting students for Fall and Winter terms. Residence has implemented a series of precautions following provincial guidance to help create a safe community within Residence on campus. If you want to live in Residence this fall let us know! We can help create a move-in time and date that will suite your individual needs throughout the term. Requests to move-in this fall will be based on availability.

At this time, Residence programming and events will take place virtually. We know this a big change from what you might be used to in Residence, but we remain committed to help create a safe and fun experience while you reside on campus.

We are constantly evaluating our COVID-19 precautions to help create a safe environment and help to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19 on campus and in Residence. We will notify our students in Residence if changes can be made to ease precautions or, if warranted, we add new precautions for the health and safety of our community.

Student Connect Centre (Student Funding, Awards, Records and Advising)

The Student Connect Centre has suspended all in-person services until further notice. In the meantime, services are provided online or by phone at 403.342.3254.

Students' Association of Red Deer College

RDC's Students' Association office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Students can stop by the SA Office to rent their locker, purchase their transit pass and buy used textbooks.

The Far Side Grill will be open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. All students and RDC faculty and staff are welcome to dine in, or take their meal to go. Stop by and check out the latest renovations!

The Loft, which is located just outside the SA Office, is an ideal place to study or safely connect with classmates.

Students may apply to receive a food hamper by completing this Food Bank Application if they are experiencing financial shortfalls. 

Students can access mental health resources, including an online mental health tool called mywellness.

Testing Services

RDC Students:

The Test Centre on Main Campus is closed and all in-person testing-related services are suspended until further notice. Please see below for additional details about specific types of testing at RDC:

  • Accommodated Exams: As much as possible, students and instructors will work together to facilitate exam accommodations remotely in Fall 2020. If you encounter difficulties with facilitating or accessing exam accommodations remotely, please contact Testing Services via test [dot] centre [at] rdc [dot] ab [dot] ca (email) to explore available options.
  • Entrance and Placement Testing: College Board (ACCUPLACER) Entrance and Placement Testing, as well as the Entrance Testing – Online Typing Assessment (required for admission into the Medical Laboratory Assistant Program), are offered via online, remote delivery. If you are eligible for one or more of these assessments, you will receive notification from the Office of the Registrar with directions on how to proceed.
  • Apprenticeship Testing: Apprenticeship Testing will be facilitated online and students will complete their testing remotely, as per the directions provided by the instructor of each program.
