Description of Position / skills Required

The position:

•     Is for 16 weeks.

•     Begins May 11, 2020 and ends September 1, 2020.

•     The wage is $16/hour for a 37.5-hour work week.

•     The museum is open 7 days a week

This Children’s Program Coordinator will primarily focus on Children’s Programming. Details To implement  educational programs for schools, children’s summer programs, amplify community awareness through distribution of the program information, document and maintain all accurate records of all projects related to the job assist and help with the day to day operations. This position will be of interest to students wanting to work in a rural small museum environment. This summer student position will assist with the day to day operations at museum. The position works under the supervision of the Manager. The job is multi-faceted and includes programming, customer service as well as Visitor Services Information dealing with the public and managing open hours of a small museum. The ideal candidate should possess

• Possess strong organizational skills

• Be a student in a degree or diploma program concerned with Education, Museum Studies, History, Tourism or a related field. .

• Have experience with Microsoft Word

• Be familiar with children’s programming

• Be fluent in English.

• The job has various roles including long periods of sitting or standing, walking reasonable distances, some lifting and carrying, some outdoor work 

• Some events and tours take place outdoors

• This position is supported by Young Canada Works. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada, be enrolled as a full-time student prior to the position and immediately after the position, be between the ages of 16 and 30, not have another full-time job, be willing to commit to the full duration of the 16-week project, and be willing to participate in an evaluation/assessment.
