SUMMER STUDENT CAFÉ SUPERVISOR - WETASKIWIN, AB

Unlimited Potential Community Services (UP) is a non-profit charitable society that has been providing quality support and treatment since 1987. Our goal is to restore stability and hope in the lives of children, youth, adults, and families so they can achieve personal independence and family unity. UP believes cultural tradition is an important part of mental wellness, so we incorporate the culture and traditions of our clients wherever possible.

 

Program/Position overview: The Summer Student will be working in the café that services coffee, bubble tea, food and working with 2nd hand clothing. There is also a work program at the café for adults with mental illness; the successful student will be working along-side these clients, providing them with direction to complete and maintain the café tasks.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, customs and beliefs;
  • Good understanding of cultural differences and how they impact treatment approaches for youth and adults;
  • The desire to gain experience in the non-profit sector;
  • Patience, flexibility, dependable are essential;
  • The drive to multitask, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on customer service;
  • A positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and ability to be a team player;
  • Strong client relationship skills (ability to get along with all personality types);
  • Demonstrates a friendly, vibrant, sociable and understanding personality.

 

Certifications / Qualifications / Education

Qualifications/Experience: Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program preferably in Psychiatric Nursing, Mental Health, Social Work, Hospitality or Occupation Therapy resulting in a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree and returning to school in the fall. Food industry experience preferred, but not required.

 

Other requirements: Provide a clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check less than six months old upon hire.

 

Salary/Schedule: $16.38 per hour; Shift schedule: Monday to Friday from 1:30pm to 7:30pm and Saturday from 11:30am to 7:00pmWe also offer free courses and workshops in-house for all of our employees. Estimated start date would be July 2, 2019.
