Job Title: Museum & Archives Assistant

Start Date: May 1, 2019 to September 2, 2019

7 hours per day, 5 days a week. *Candidates must be available to work weekends.

Wage: $15/ hour

Positions Available: 4

 

Job Description:

The Museum and Archives Assistant will help the Lacombe & District Historical Society deliver on-going cultural and heritage services and host special events during local Festivals at the Museums in Lacombe.

Duties include but are not limited to welcoming and providing local information to visitors; delivering guided tours and children/family programs; creating and updating online content; managing scheduling of bookings and taking payments; selling and managing gift shop; running demonstrations and workshops for the public; general maintenance/cleaning duties; and working in the archives.

Ideal candidates include post-secondary students pursuing studies in a related field and/or wanting to pursue a career in the culture and heritage and/or non-profit sectors. Strong customer service, computer and communications skills are required. Knowledge of any related heritage skills like spinning, knitting, and/or blacksmithing is an asset.

Due to the historic nature of our buildings, access to these buildings is limited and not wheel chair accessible. Ability to do some lifting (up to 50lbs) and climb stairs is also required.
