COVID-19 Information | RDC’s plan to deliver quality education this fall

Fitness

Commit. Train. Maintain.

Red Deer College’s fitness programs are focused on the development of your health and wellbeing. We take pride in creating a comfortable and safe environment where you are encouraged to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. We want your experience to be great, not only from your workout but from the friends you make while training here.

Fitness and Wellness Services

We are pleased to announce the re-opening of Fitness & Wellness Services at Red Deer College’s Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

RDC’s Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone and Border Paving Running Track are now open with appropriate protocols in place as we follow current Alberta Health Services and Government of Alberta guidelines. High-intensity physical or cardio activity equipment (e.g. treadmills and elliptical machines) will be organized so that every third item can be used.

Members will be permitted to use our health and wellness facilities on a first-come, first-served basis. A maximum of 30 people will be allowed in the Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone at one time. We ask that you participate in workouts no longer than 60 minutes to allow us to serve as many members as possible each day.

The opening of other spaces within the Centre will be assessed on an ongoing basis, according to AHS guidelines. Please check back for further details of intramuralsfitness classes, team training and the Be Fit For Life Centre.

Health and Safety Guidelines

To help ensure the health and safety of all our members, we ask your help reviewing and following the guidelines below when you attend RDC to use our facilities:

  • Please enter the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre using the north-west doors (closest entrance from 32nd Street). Proceed to Guest Services on the first floor, following the signs. Our new signage includes floor signs that help remind you of appropriate physical distancing measures.
  • Come prepared for your workout. Community change rooms/locker rooms will be closed until September 1. Washrooms are open and available for public use.
  • Please complete the COVID-19 Contact Tracing and Alberta Daily Checklist using the SAFE RDC App. You can download this app on IOS and Android devices. Alternately, you can complete it at the Guest Services desk in the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre as you check in for your workout.
  • Please use hand sanitizer available when you arrive at Guest Services, and again before you enter the Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone and/or Border Paving Running Track Running Track. Hand sanitizer will be available in various areas for your continued use during your workout.
  • Members will each receive a sanitized spray bottle and a cloth for their workout. We appreciate your help using these items to wipe all equipment before and after you use it. When your workout is completed, you can return your spray bottle and close to the Fitness Desk at which point these items will be disinfected and laundered.

We are committed to keeping you informed about updates to our facilities, hours and programs. You can review up-to-date information about RDC’s response to COVID-19 on our website at rdc.ab.ca/coronavirus.
