Graduation and Convocation

Convocation 2021

RDC looks forward to celebrating our students’ accomplishments each year at Convocation. At this time, we are planning for the ceremonies and determining what format these will take, as we continue to comply with Alberta Health orders with respect to public gatherings. Please check back for future updates. Additional details will be shared once they are confirmed.

Celebrating Convocation 2020 Graduates This Year

While we did not have ceremonies for RDC’s 56th Convocation last year, we are considering how we may celebrate the accomplishments of these graduates in 2021. At this time, we are still determining what this celebration may look like, including the date and format, as we continue to comply with Alberta Health orders for public gatherings. Please check back for future updates. Additional details will be shared once they are confirmed.

Congratulations to RDC’s Class of 2020

In June of 2020, 1,654 students graduated from Red Deer College. Our College’s 56th ConvoConvocation 2020cation is memorable for many reasons, but nothing can take away from the importance of Convocation or the milestone achievement that it signifies for each of you, our graduating class of 2020.

Check out the Convocation 2020 program to find your name and see your place in RDC’s history.

We are very pleased to announce three award recipients as part of Convocation 2020. Two outstanding students were recognized for their exceptional contributions to academics and to the community. Megan Nikula received the Governor General’s Academic Medal (Collegiate Bronze Level) for her academic excellence. Megan graduated with a Kinesiology and Sport Studies Diploma, and she earned a GPA of 4.0 and five grades of A+ in the final year of her program.

Brittany Lausen received the Red Deer College Foundation Outstanding Student Award for her leadership and commitment to RDC. Brittany has demonstrated extensive contributions as a student leader, serving as the President of the Students’ Association and being an integral part of a wide variety of initiatives for students across the College.

RDC continued another important tradition in 2020, with the granting of an Honorary Degree to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of social, cultural or economic development in a way that has had significant impact on RDC, central Alberta and beyond. Dorothy Dickson is the sixth recipient of the Honorary Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Degree in recognition of her unparalleled passion for environmental initiatives, education and community building.

Congratulations to all of our graduates from the class of 2020! We look forward to celebrating with you in 2021.
