Biography

Trent began his career at Red Deer Polytechnic in 1995 as a part-time faculty member in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program. He has served the institution full-time since 2000 in multiple service and leadership roles, including:

  • Program Coordinator, Computer and Information Technology Programs (Continuing Education), 2000 - 2006
  • Divisional Administrative Coordinator, Learning Resources Division, 2006 - 2008
  • Regional Initiatives Coordinator/Campus Alberta Central, 2008 - 2010
  • Director, Student Services, 2010 - 2018
  • Director, Ancillary & Sport Services, 2018 – Present

Trent also served on RDP’s Board of Governors from 2005 - 2009.

Sport has always played a significant role in Trent’s life. From his youth as a multi-sport athlete to his involvement as a coach, manager, board member and dedicated volunteer, Trent's contributions are notable. 

Trent’s journey is marked by commitment, leadership, and a profound love for sports and service to the community. He played a role on the 2019 Canada Winter Games Legacy Committee and contributed in many other meaningful ways to help ensure the success of the Games. 

Under Trent's leadership, the Ancillary & Sport Services Division played a pivotal role in successfully supporting the delivery of five sports (badminton, wheelchair basketball, squash, figure skating and short track speedskating) on RDP's main campus. The team also provided vital village and accommodation services for athletes and coaches during the 2019 Canada Winter Games, hosted in Red Deer.

Trent proudly served as a founding board member of Central Sport. In recognition of his exceptional dedication to the sport of volleyball, Trent was honoured as the 2022 recipient of Volleyball Alberta’s Volunteer of the Year award.
