RDC's Self-Isolation Support Program

RDC is very excited to welcome international students back to campus and is prepared to support incoming students through their mandatory 14-day self-isolation period.  

Who is this program for? 

New or returning international students who are traveling to Canada in order to begin or continue their studies at Red Deer College. If an incoming international student is travelling to Canada with co-arriving family members, such as a spouse or child, they may request to self-isolate together. It is legally required that anyone entering Canada—whether by air, sea or land—to quarantine (self-isolate) themselves for 14 days if they are asymptomatic in order to limit the introduction and spread of COVID-19. 

What is included in the program?

Transportation from either the Edmonton International Airport or the Calgary International Airport directly to your self-isolation unit. 

For the duration of your isolation period, you will be housed within RDC’s residence. Your amenities will include:  

  • Private bathroom  
  • Linens  
  • Basic dishes and cooking supplies  
  • Garbage collection  
  • Weekly laundry service  
  • Internet/Wifi  

Food necessities hamper
Food basics to get you through the first few days of isolation will be provided to you within your unit. Please note that it will be your responsibility to complete a grocery order to be delivered to your unit and to cook your own food. Alternatively, you can also take advantage of local restaurants that deliver or use Skip the Dishes.  

International students will be supported throughout their self-isolation period through check-ins with the RDC International team, access to virtual counselling appointments, and other virtual programming.

Quarantine plan documentation
As you enter Canada, you may be asked to provide information about your quarantine plan. As part of RDC’s Self-Isolation Support Program, incoming students will be provided with a letter outlining key details of their plan to self-isolate.  

What is the cost of the program?

The complete self-isolation program will cost $500 per person, with payment required in advance. Once registered, payments will be accepted via Flywire.  

How do I register for the program? 

Complete the registration form. You must submit this form within a minimum of 7 calendar days prior to your anticipated travel date.
