Apprentice Incentive & Completion Grants

What is it?

The government of Canada has grant funding available for apprentices upon completion of their first, second, and final year/level of training.

Apprentice Incentive Grant (AIG)

The AIG is a $1,000 grant available to apprentices who have completed their first year/level of technical and on-the-job training in a Red Seal trade. Apprentices can apply for this grant a second time after completion of their second year/level.

Apprentice Incentive Grant for Women (AIG-W)

The AIG-W is a $3,000 grant available to female apprentices who have completed their first year/level of technical and on-the job-training in a Red Seal trade. Apprentices can apply for this grant a second time after completion of their second year/level.

Apprentices are not eligible to receive both the AIG and the AIG-W, however; women who have received the AIG on or after April 1, 2018 may apply for the AIG-W in order to obtain the additional $2,000.

Apprentice Completion Grant (ACG)

The ACG is a $2,000 grant available to apprentices who have successfully completed their apprenticeship training program and have received their journeyperson certification in a designated Red Seal trade.
