Jan 17 Conflict Resolution Workshop

The Employee Wellness Working Group is excited to host two FREE Conflict Resolution workshops led by Linnea Vendittelli, Campus Connections Coordinator. Each session has a limit 30 participants.

Participants will discuss conflict situations that occur on campus and develop strategies to address the issues that arise when trying to resolve these conflicts. They will learn and practice how to solve these issues fairly and peacefully by using The Conflict Resolution Skill.

Should you wish to attend this event during your normal hours of work it is up to each employee to gain supervisor approval.

The Philosopher’s Café discusses "Would you join a cult? Examining the power of cult persuasion." Hosted by Anomi Bearden, PhD, RDC Psychology instructor. Open to RDC students, staff, and faculty, as well as the general public, this event is free and light refreshments are available.
 
The Philosopher's Café promotes open, meaningful dialogue on the discussion topic, enabling participants to share their own ideas and to broaden their perspective by considering the views of others. No philosophical training or expertise is required.

Art With Impact promotes mental wellness by creating space for young people to learn and connect through art and media. Movies for Mental Health is a two-hour workshop that focuses on empowering young adults, educators, health professionals and community members to gain a better understanding of mental health within their environment. Knowing that art speaks the language of our interior worlds, Art With Impact harnesses film to engage with young people on the vital topic of mental health, inspiring and empowering them to tell their own stories and access resources available to them.

Jan 25 Collegiate Sports Medicine Concussion Lunch & Learn with FREE LUNCH

RDC’s Employee Wellness Working Group is happy to host a FREE lunch & learn session (FREE LUNCH INCLUDED) offered by Collegiate Sports Medicine focusing on concussions.

Concussion is defined as an injury to the brain caused by a direct hit to the head or an indirect trauma to the body such as a fall or a hit to the body that whips the head/neck back and forth or side to side. The session will cover topics including early recognition, what to do in the 72 hour post-injury period, and how concussions can be treated.

The Employee Wellness Working Group is excited to offer a free lunch and learn session on nutrition.

Although only 1-5% of the population is gluten sensitive or intolerant, almost 5 million Canadians regularly purchase and consume gluten free foods. Join us for a presentation by RDC instructor Trevor Keeper to explore some facts behind the gluten-free trend and whether or not it is a wise choice for you.
