ASCHA Activity Coordinator Program
Responding to the demand of the senior housing sector, the Alberta Seniors Communities and Housing Association has worked with RDC since 1996 to develop and deliver a specialized certificate program for Activity Coordinators.
The ASCHA Activity Coordinator Certificate is designed for those with an interest in working in recreation and planning activities in the seniors' housing sector. This program will orient you in the fields of leadership, communication, conflict resolution and client satisfaction. The training will assist you in developing your personal and professional development, understanding the principles of recreation and leisure, and program development.
You will develop knowledge and skills in:
- Recreation and Leisure
- Supporting Older Adults
- Aging Process
- Conflict Management
- Program Development
- Personal and Professional Development
- This program requires the completion of seven core online courses
- Each course is one hour per week for six weeks
- Class time is 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
- A mic and headset are required for all online ASCHA courses

Laura Crawford Scholarship
The Laura Crawford Scholarship Award of $1000 is granted to one student every year. This award is intended to support ongoing growth and learning in the seniors’ housing industry and will assist the recipient by offsetting a large portion of the cost of the ASCHA program.
