Encaustic Photography - Shary Bartlett

Is it a photograph or a painting? Indulge yourself in five glorious days discovering the evocative beauty of Inkjet, LaserJet and professionally printed photographs secreted beneath translucent encaustic wax. Hand-alter, transfer and enhance photos printed on paper and textiles and apply a variety of painterly surface treatments: textures, coloured waxes, oil, water-based and cold wax pigments, pastels, inks, metallics and hot tools. Learn studio setup practices and a myriad of encaustic techniques in a fun and mutually supportive atmosphere. Suitable for new or experienced artists and photographers. All materials provided in your supplies fee, however, students are welcome to bring photographs and personal materials. Classes are 9-4pm with optional evening projects available outside the classroom.
