Experienced and amateur adult artists from across Alberta and beyond will soon immerse themselves in a range of captivating visual art courses at Red Deer College’s Series Summer Arts School. From July 9 to August 3, participants will have the opportunity for personal and professional development as they pursue their crafts in a wide variety of mediums.

For 35 years, Series Summer Arts School has provided a wealth of creative opportunities through a blend of engaging courses. This year, the five-day workshops include painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, calligraphy, beadmaking, jewelry and metalsmithing, ceramics, glass, literary arts, bronze casting, antler carving and more. Single-day classes are offered through A Taste of Series on July 21.

As a returning highlight, instructors will present and share images of their work with students on Tuesday evenings. Students will also have the chance to display their newly created art. These events will be held on Thursday, July 12, 19, 26, and August 2 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in RDC’s FarSide Bar & Grill. Members of the public and media are invited to attend these free weekly events.

In addition to the instructor presentations and student showcases, participants can also attend social activities, open model sessions, studios and partnered receptions with the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery in the evenings to connect with like-minded artists in the community.
