Non-Profit Management Certificate Starting Soon at RDC

As part of a collaborative community effort to build capacity in the non-profit sector, Red Deer College’s School of Continuing Education recently announced a new

Non-Profit Management Certificate.

Developed with input from a broad range of central Alberta non-profits, this Certificate is designed to provide those working or volunteering in the non-profit sector with the fundamental management skills needed to succeed as a leader in this unique environment.

“Central Alberta’s not-for-profit and charity-based associations will benefit greatly with RDC offering courses to help develop local talent and the services we offer to our community,” says Denie Olmstead, Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Home Builders' Association Central Alberta.

Having worked closely with a focus group representing a variety of local non-profit organizations, the School of Continuing Education was able to tailor the program curriculum and delivery to address the unique challenges of this sector.

Funding is available for organizations that enrol one or more employees in the Non-Profit Management Certificate. The Canada-Alberta Job Grant will reimburse up to two-thirds of the program tuition, saving employers more than $1,200 per registrant. Applications must be submitted at least 30 days before the program start date.

“The Canada-Alberta Job Grant is critical for many organizations wanting to enrol employees in this certificate program,” explains Brenda Munro, Dean of RDC’s School of Continuing Education. “This grant enables us to offer a high quality program that is designed to meet the specific needs of the non-profit sector.”

Funding can be received in five simple steps:

1.     Visit the Canada-Alberta Job Grant website.
2.     Complete the Canada-Alberta Job Grant Application and Trainee Forms by February 5, 2016.
3.     Register for the Non-Profit Management Certificate through the RDC School of Continuing Education website or by calling 403.357.3663.
4.     Complete the Canada-Alberta Job Grant Training Reimbursement Form, including original training cost receipts.
5.     After the program is complete, submit the Canada-Alberta Job Grant Training Completion Form (must be received no later than 30 days after approved courses end).

Registration is now open for the Non-Profit Management Certificate, with courses running every second Wednesday beginning March 9, 2016.
