Earlier today, the Government of Alberta issued an Order-in-Council updating Red Deer College’s Board of Governors membership.

As a result, three current Board of Governors members will leave their roles. The College is pleased to welcome three new individuals to serve as incoming members of the Board of Governors.

Current Board of Governors members whose terms have been rescinded by the Government of Alberta are: Morris Flewwelling (current Chair), Dianne Macaulay and Karin Melnyk.

The new Board of Governors members, appointed by the Government for a term that begins now through September 8, 2022 are: Guy Pelletier (new Chair), Kristen Korhonen and Julie Oliver.

While new to his role as President of Red Deer College, Dr. Peter Nunoda thanks the outgoing Board of Governors members for their service to the College during the past years.

“I extend my personal gratitude to Mr. Flewwelling, Ms. Macauley and Ms. Melnyk for their dedication to RDC and the important roles they have played serving as valued members on our Board of Governors. Their efforts have enhanced the lives of our students, and their contributions have positioned our institution well to continue serving our region in the future as a comprehensive regional teaching university,” says Dr. Nunoda.

“I congratulate and welcome the new Board of Governors members, and I look forward to working with the full Board as we continue the valuable work ahead to realize our bold vision for our future.”

Guy Pelletier is currently Chair of the RDC President Transition Team and Vice-President, Red Deer Region, for Melcor Developments. Kristen Korhonen is Regional Vice President, Alberta Central, at BMO Financial Group, and Julie Oliver is a Business Advisor for MNP in Red Deer.

To allow the newest Board of Governors members time for orientation to RDC, the College’s public Board of Governors meeting items scheduled for Thursday, September 12 will now be deferred to the next meeting on October 10.
