RDC Series Summer Arts School 2019

Artists from across Canada and beyond will soon arrive at Red Deer College to begin an artistic summer adventure filled with visual arts courses. From July 8 to August 2, participants will grow personally and professionally as they pursue their crafts in a wide variety of mediums.

With almost 40 years of history, Series Summer Arts School provides a wealth of artistic opportunities, with a strong mix of new courses and returning favourites. This year’s courses include painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, calligraphy, beadmaking, jewelry and metalsmithing, ceramics, glassblowing, literary arts and more. Students may choose to participate either in week-long workshops or in one-day workshops offered on July 20, which will allow people to try different artistic offerings.

As a returning highlight, Series Summer Arts School is pleased to feature Instructor Presentations on Tuesday evenings, where instructors share images and their inspirations as artists.

In addition, students will have the opportunity to display the work they have created while attending Series at the weekly Student Showcases. These Showcase events will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday July 11, 18 and 25, as well as August 1, in RDC’s Cornerstone Dining on main campus (100 College Boulevard). Members of the public and media are invited to attend these weekly free events.

In addition to the Instructor Presentations and Student Showcases, participants can also attend social activities, open model sessions, open studios and partnered receptions with the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery in the evenings, allowing them to connect with other likeminded artists in the Series community.

For more information visit or call RDC’s School of Continuing Education at 403.356.4900. Spaces are still available in some upcoming workshops on a first-come, first-served basis.
