News Update

In a continued effort to inform our College community about RDC’s response to COVID-19, here are today’s updates:

Postponement of Convocation 2020

  • After much consideration, we have decided to postpone RDC’s Convocation Ceremonies that were scheduled for Friday, June 5. 
  • A new date has not yet been determined, but this will be communicated as soon as it is established.
  • This decision was not made lightly, as Convocation is a wonderful time of celebration for students and their families, as well as faculty, staff and community members. We’ve chosen to postpone Convocation 2020 because, in alignment with Alberta Health directives, the health and safety of everyone on our campuses is our highest priority. 
  • Students who are eligible to graduate will still earn their credentials, and they will receive their parchments by mail after June 5, 2020. The Office of the Registrar is contacting all students with details about the postponement and the related processes.

Postponement of RDC Events

  • Following directives from Alberta Health Services and governments, with the health and safety of our community members in mind, RDC will postpone all events that are hosted by, or at, the College between now and June 5, 2020.
    • For RDC, this includes the: Athletics Awards Night, Community Awards Celebration, Annual Fine Wine and Food Tasting Event and all other small and large in-person events.
    • Anyone who previously purchased tickets for RDC events will automatically receive refunds as quickly as they can be processed in the next four to six weeks.
    • RDC is communicating this decision with community partners who have rented our facilities for upcoming events in this time period, and those organizations will then inform their guests of this decision.

Campus Store

  • With the Campus Store currently closed for in-person traffic, students who rented textbooks and other course materials that are due in April can ship these rented items by mail with a shipping label provided by the Campus Store.
    • To receive a free shipping rental return label, email the Campus Store: 0913mgr [at] follett [dot] com. When you email, include your first and last names, your address and your daytime phone number. The Campus Store will then email you a shipping label.
    • You will then have to bring your rental return shipment to the nearest Purolator drop-off store to be shipped to RDC’s Campus Store.
    • If you rented materials online, you may convert these items to purchase or extend the rentals by visiting and then logging in to “My Account” on or before the due date which was provided at the time of rental.
  • Students may purchase course materials and other merchandise for the Spring and Summer 2020 semesters from the Campus Store and The Pulse by visiting Purchases will be shipped for free to the mailing address provided in the online order.
  • RDC’s Campus Store is pleased to provide free shipping for book rental returns and new purchases that are made on its website as a small way to help make this situation less stressful for our students and other customers.
