Convocation 2021

As RDC celebrates its 57th graduating class, the College has determined it will hold a virtual Convocation Ceremony this June.

“Convocation is a time for celebration, because it provides an important moment for graduates and their families and friends, along with all of us at RDC, to pause and reflect on all that has been accomplished,” says Dr. Peter Nunoda, RDC President. “Even though we would prefer to share the joy with our graduates in person, I am confident that we will present a celebratory and memorable Convocation Ceremony through a virtual platform.”

On June 3 and 4, RDC will be presenting virtual Convocation Ceremonies for students graduating in 2021, as well as those who graduated in June 2020. The video celebrating Convocation 2020 graduates will be available on Thursday, June 3, with the video for Convocation 2021 graduates available on Friday, June 4.

The decision to host Convocation through a virtual platform was made after careful consideration, as College leaders determined it was the safest way to celebrate students while complying with Alberta Health guidelines and keeping the RDC community safe.

“RDC, like all post-secondaries, has had to adapt over the past year and find ways to create a sense of community in these unusual times,” says Nunoda. “Last June, we celebrated our graduates through RDC’s social media platforms. This year, we’ve chosen to share virtual Convocation Ceremonies for our graduates from 2020 and 2021, because we feel this is our best current option to celebrate and personalize Convocation in a safe way. We want all of our graduates to be able to sit down with family and friends to enjoy their Convocation Ceremony.”

The College is informing all eligible graduates from this year, as well as those who graduated last year, about the upcoming virtual Convocation Ceremonies. Additional details are also available at and on RDC’s social media platforms (InstagramFacebookTwitter).
