Early Learning & Child Care Distance Certificate and Diploma
Students interested in becoming Early Learning and Child Care professionals, who are unable to attend college full-time on campus, can access education in several ways including part-time on-campus, or distance through either alternate delivery (Certificate) or on-line delivery (Certificate and Diploma).
Admission Requirements for ELCC Certificate (Distance)
Mature students who enter into the ELCC Distance Certificate do not have to meet on-campus admission requirements. Everyone is conditionally accepted and given an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to manage coursework. Upon successful completion of two ELCC courses, and the recommendation of the chairperson, they will be admitted to the Early Learning and Child Care Program.
Students entering the diploma program must have a completed ELCC Certificate.
Alberta Government Certification
Students who complete one ELCC Certificate course are eligible for Child Development Assistant Certificate from the Alberta Government.
Students who complete an ELCC Certificate are eligible for Child Development Worker Certification from the Alberta Government.
Students who complete an ELCC Diploma are eligible for Child Development Supervisor Certification from the Alberta Government.
AB Certification is transferable to certification for both British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
