Student Science Conference
April 7th and 8th, 2017
Rooms 2600, 2601, Farside Bar and Grill and Margaret Parson's Theatre
Welcome to the homepage of the Science Department's annual Student Science and Engineering Conference. This event gives our students an opportunity to present their work (in the form of a 15-minute talk or a poster) to an audience of peers, faculty and community members in a conference-like setting. We will also invite a guest-speaker to come and give a lecture on a topic relevant to the interests of many of our students and the general public.
Dr. Joe Schwarcz, "Sense, Nonsense, and Science"
Dr. Schwarcz is a professor of chemistry at McGill University in Montreal, Canada where he specializes in communicating science to the public in a variety of media via McGill's Office for Science and Society. He has his own radio show, "The Dr. Joe Show" on CJAD 800 in Montreal. In addition, he has appeared countless times on CTV, CBC, Global and the Discovery Channel, to name but a few. He also has a newspaper column in the Montreal Gazette called "The Right Chemistry" and has written more than a dozen books (many available from Amazon.ca). He gives talks to Universities all across Canada, and Red Deer College is proud to host "Dr. Joe" this year!
