Continuing Education Funding

Students who are registered in School of Continuing Education programming have limited and specific funding opportunities which are different from post-secondary credit programming funding options. See below for the School of Continuing Education programs that have government funding options. If you do not believe you would qualify for the funding sources below you may wish to explore the option of a student line of credit through your bank. To discuss this option further, please contact your bank directly.

The following government funding options may be available depending upon your Continuing Education course and personal situation:

Pre-Employment Programs

Part-Time Pre-Employment

Part-time programs include:  

  • Electrician

Program Dates:  September 18, 2018 - May 25, 2019

By completing the Alberta Student Aid Application for Financial Assistance for Part-Time Post-Secondary Studies, you are automatically assessed for provincial grants.

If you are a student with a permanent disability, you can also be assessed for disability grants. Consideration is not automatic - Students must be sure to attach any and all required documentation in order to be assessed for disability grants.  

 

Full-Time Pre-Employment 

Full-time programs include:  

  • Carpentry
  • Electrician
  • Plumbing
  • Welding

Program Dates:  

  • March 5, 2019 - June 5, 2019 (Carpentry)
  • March 27, 2019 - June 20, 2019 (Electrician, Plumbing and Welding)

By completing the Alberta Student Aid Application for Financial Assistance for Fullt-Time Post-Secondary Studies, you are automatically assessed for provincial loans and grants. Funding is intended to assist students with the cost of tuition, fees, books, travel, child care (if applicable), and living expenses (such as rent, utilities, food, clothing, and personal care).

If you are a student with a permanent disability, you can also be assessed for disability grants. Consideration is not automatic - Students must be sure to attach any and all required documentation in order to be assessed for disability grants.  

Complete the online application for full-time government student loans and grants at www.studentaid.alberta.ca.

 

Alberta Works Exposure Course Funding

If you are employable, but lack a specific skill which could be obtained by attending a short-term training course, you may be a suitable candidate for Exposure Course Funding.

  • Are you unemployed or marginally employed?
  • Are you job ready, except for certain job-specific skills?
  • Are you committed to obtaining employment at the conclusion of your training?
  • Are you an Alberta resident, Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or convention refugee (and legally entitled to work and train in Canada)?
