What is it?

By completing this application and two safety assessments you are applying for all RDC apprenticeship awards.

When should I apply?

The application is available December 1st - May 31st annually.  

Award winners will be notified throughout the summer months.  Be sure to keep your contact information (email, phone, mailing address) up-to-date with RDC to ensure you do not miss out on any scholarship notifications!


Trade Secrets - Apprentice & Occupational Trainee Scholarships

What is it?

Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training provides over 370 scholarships of $1,000 annually.  Complete one annual application to be considered for all of these opportunities!

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee
  • Must be an Alberta resident (as defined by Alberta Scholarship Program - click here for residency requirements)
  • Must be an Alberta apprentice
  • Must have attended and passed a period of technical training in the current academic year (ie. July 2016 - June 2017)
  • Must have at least one more period of technical training remaining in your program (ie. apprentices completing their final level of training are not eligible)

How do I apply? 

Print the application from  Select the Financial Assistance tab, click on Scholarships from the sidebar, then choose the Apprentice & Occupational Trainee Scholarship.  You must mail your application to the address provided on your form by the application deadline (ie. The post-mark must be June 30th or prior).

When should I apply? 

Applications become available online every spring. The annual deadline to apply is June 30th.  


When will I find out if I am selected for a scholarship? 
Award recipients are notified via mail by November 1st.

Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship

If you are a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, especially in the area of disability and/or initiative to improve the condition and lives of others, you should apply for the Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship!  Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person (visa students are not eligible); an Alberta resident; and be enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies (including apprenticeship programs) during the 2017-2018 academic year.

Application forms can be picked up from the Student Funding & Awards Office, the Students' Association Office (room 2010), DSB (3rd floor), or click here to print one.  Once completed, submit your application form, resume, letter of reference, and essay to the Student Funding & Awards Office
