Am I a Current/Continuing Student?

You are a current and/or a continuing student if you meet one of the following criteria:

  • You are a current RDC student (enrolled in credit programming)
  • You are currently enrolled in a University of Alberta or University of Calgary collaborative program, or the Mount Royal partnership program at RDC
  • You are a previous RDC student who took a break in studies and are returning to complete your program
  • You are a current RDC student who is changing programs and will continue your studies at RDC
  • You are entering the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of a program

 

Red Deer College's Annual Online Awards & Scholarships Application

The Annual Online Awards & Scholarships Application is open!  By completing this application, you are applying for all RDC awards except for those requiring a special application form.

Student Recognition Awards

The Student Recognition Award is intended to recognize students who best exemplify co-curricular contributions to Red Deer College and the community. The award is not based on academic performance - rather, it recognizes and highlights students’ accomplishments based on the following criterion: inspiration, innovation, leadership, courage and community.

Students must be nominated for this award.  Anyone can complete the nomination form!  Click here to begin.

Students' Association of Red Deer College Awards with Leadership Criteria

Take a few minutes to nominate a post-secondary student who demonstrates outstanding dedication and leadership to fellow students and to their community for a scholarship!

Complete the Students Association of Red Deer College Awards Nomination Form in order to nominate a student for the following 3 awards:

  • Student of the Year Award
    Eligibility Criteria:  Full-time post-secondary student demonstrating outstanding contribution and leadership in student affairs.  SA Executives are not eligible.
  • Outstanding Dedication Award
    Eligibility Criteria:  Contribution and leadership in student affairs.  SA Executives are not eligible. 
  • Student Volunteer Award
    Eligibility Criteria:  Involvement in volunteer activities that benefit the students of RDC.  SA Executives are not eligible. 

Complete the Students' Association of Red Deer College - Terry Wood Scholarship Nomination Form in order to be assessed for the following award:

  • Terry Wood Scholarship
    Eligibility Criteria:  Full-time post-secondary student demonstrating personal growth and involvement leading to the betterment of the SA and its members.  

Complete the Students' Association of Red Deer College - Mental Health Initiative Award Nomination Form  in order to be assessed for the following award:

  • Mental Health Initiative Award
    Eligibility Criteria:  Student must have shown outstanding leadership in the area of mental health initiatives.

Nomination forms are also available at the Student Funding & Awards Office, the Students' Association Office (room 2010), or DSB (3rd floor).  Once complete, submit your nomination form to the Student Funding & Awards Office.

Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership

If you are a student who is involved in student government, student societies, clubs, or student organizations at the provincial and/or national level or in non-profit community organizations, you should apply for the Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership!  Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person (visa students are not eligible); an Alberta resident; and enrolled full-time in an undergraduate program during the 2017-2018 academic year.

Application forms can be picked up from the Student Funding & Awards Office, the Students' Association Office (room 2010), DSB (3rd floor), or click here to print one.  Once completed, submit your application form, letter of reference, and a detailed description of your leadership involvement to the Student Funding & Awards Office.

Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship

If you are a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, especially in the area of disability and/or initiative to improve the condition and lives of others, you should apply for the Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship!  Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person (visa students are not eligible); an Alberta resident; and be enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies (including apprenticeship programs) during the 2017-2018 academic year.

Application forms can be picked up from the Student Funding & Awards Office, the Students' Association Office (room 2010), DSB (3rd floor), or click here to print one.  Once completed, submit your application form, resume, letter of reference, and essay to the Student Funding & Awards Office

Indigenous Careers Award

If you are an Indigenous student attending full-time studies at RDC you may be eligible for the Indigenous Careers Award!  This award provides support to Indigenous Albertans in their pursuit of post-secondary studies in certificate, diploma, and degree programs in Alberta high-demand occupations.  

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be of Indigenous ancestry
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Must be a resident of Alberta
  • Must be enrolled full-time in one of RDC's eligible programs
  • Must have attended a post-secondary institution the term immediately prior to submitting your application
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 1.7

Award Value:  $2,000 per semester / maximum of $4,000 per academic year

We are currently accepting applications for students enrolled in Winter term 2018.  Students who submitted applications in Fall will automatically be considered for the Winter disbursement.

To apply, print and complete the application form and submit it along with proof of your Indigenous ancestry to the Student Funding & Awards Office.  Awards are limited - be sure to apply early!

RDC Tenants' Association Building Community Scholarship

Do you reside on campus?  Would you like to organize an event, project or initiative for the betterment of your fellow RDC residents?  If so, you need to apply for this scholarship!  There are two scholarships to be awarded in the Fall term, and two to be awarded in the Winter term.  The selected recipient(s) will receive $200 to make their event, project or initiative a reality.  Simply complete the RDC Tenants' Association Building Community Scholarship Application in order to be considered.  Please note applications will be considered on a first-come first-serve basis.  

Deadline to apply for a Winter term project:  March 15, 2018
