Welcome to Aboriginal Services at Red Deer College
Red Deer College offers a diverse range of services; such as personal support services, cultural workshops and programming and intercultural connections.
Students are at the heart of Red Deer College ensuring you feel confident in your post-secondary learning experience to be able to succeed in your career plans and life.
Red Deer College promotes a culturally rich environment where Aboriginal culture, history, and wisdom are integrated into your post-secondary learning experience. Red Deer College is focal to the many Aboriginal communities within central Alberta. The campus lies on neutral land as Red Deer falls directly on the border of Treaty 6 and 7.
The Living Room, Student Life Centre, is the location of Aboriginal Services and where cultural workshops and spotlights take place. Other services offered are:
- Cultural and spiritual support
- Elder visits
- Intercultural connections
- Smudge room
- Guidance and connection to other service areas on campus and within the community
Aboriginal Services is dedicated to providing an environment that is culturally enriching and promotes Aboriginal culture and awareness on campus. We encourage success, participation, and access to resources for students. We are committed to bridging gaps and supporting balance to meet the needs of the Red Deer College community. Aboriginal Services supports the integration of culturally competent practices in all edifices of Red Deer College.
