Summer Ballet and Contemporary Dance Intensive 2018

Share your passion for dance!  Develop technique and artistry under the direction of dance professionals/teachers with international experience and get in shape for your fall dance classes.  Classes will include classical ballet (including pointe), lyrical, contemporary, repertoire, choreography/creative movement, character, stretch & strengthen and national. 

The camp is available to dancers age 7 and older.  Dancers will be grouped by ability so you will be challenged.  The week will conclude with a presentation for parents and friends.

Our Instructors

Heather Ami Cook (Lead Instructor)

Heather Cook has an extensive ballet and gymnastics background. She holds her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from York University and completed her post-graduate studies at Canada's National Ballet School. An independent dance artist and teacher she has danced and trained internationally - including Canada, USA, Costa Rica, Japan, Israel, Palestine, England, France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Her performances include two summer sessions with ROSAS P.A.R.T.S., dancing with Paromita Kar and the Eurvieves Dance Collective and performing with the National Ballet of Canada for five seasons of their Nutcracker at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

Tyler Day 

Born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta; Tyler started dancing at the age of 15 at a local studio. After graduating high school he moved to Calgary where he trained at the School of Alberta Ballet under the tutelage of Murray and Nancy Kilgour. He has been fortunate to perform with many companies including the Alberta Ballet, Ballet Ouest de Montreal, the Atlantic City Ballet, and finishing off his career as a principal dancer with Ballet Pensacola. Mr Day has taught at Atlantic Contemporary Ballet Theatre, Ballet Pensacola and the School of Alberta Ballet.

Natalka Lewis

Natalka Lewis (BA, Associate Diploma CSC-CICB) is a dance artist, choreographer, and teacher based out of Calgary, AB. Natalka holds her BA in Contemporary Dance with a specialization in Classical Ballet. Natalka holds her Associate Diploma as a member of the Cecchetti Society of Canada and has successfully entered many students into ballet exams since 2010.  Natalka continues to train as a dancer and a teacher locally and abroad. Natalka is the founder and Artistic Director of Trip the Light Dance Company. Through Trip the Light, Natalka has produced work in many arts and dance festivals across Canada. Natalka continues to work as a freelance dance artist, teacher, choreographer & adjudicator.  She has danced with companies Soulocentric Performing Arts, W & M Physical Theatre’s Pro Division, La Caravan Dance Theatre, & Dancers’ Studio West.  She worked as a company dancer with Corps Bara Dance Theatre for two seasons.  Natalka’s work focuses on authentic human experiences that encourage the artist and the audience to connect emotionally and truthfully.

In addition, Natalka is pursuing her Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology and upon graduation will work primarily with teens and dancers/athletes. 

Registration will open on December 15th and brochures will be mailed in early February.
