The Expressive Sculpture Portrait in Clay

Review the anatomical structure of the head: skull, eyes, nose, ear, mouth with class instruction and demonstrations at each step. You can expect to produce a realistic 3D portrait in clay, one that arrives at a likeness with life and expression. More experienced students can expect to move towards achieving an expressive quality moving towards abstraction. The clay portraits are built on an armature, using additive and subtractive methods.
