About the Tournament

Please come out to and join us in the first annual Kings Volleyball Beach 4's Tournament. We hope to use this tournament as an opportunity primarily to raise funds for the Kings Volleyball Program but also to build on the strong foundation of our KVB Alumni and have a lot of FUN at the same time! All current members of this year's team that are local, will be involved in the tournament.... get a chance to meet them in person and socialize.

Maintaining a high level of excellence is always the goal at Red Deer College but it comes with increasing costs.   The development of the KVB Alumni Group was formed to help alleviate this pressure.  Our main initiative is to ensure the program continues to thrive, while providing all the opportunities needed for the team to reach their goals.  As the financial cost of operating the program increases, it becomes more important for the use of scholarships and quality non-conference competition in attracting top quality recruits and the use of additional funds to remain a top CCAA program.

Kings Volleyball alumna, Jonathon Walsh passed away on April 27th, 2010 in Lausanne Switzerland.  Jon played volleyball at Red Deer College assisting the Kings to a No. 1 ranking in the CCAA for three consecutive years 1996-1999 and then shifted over to the Calgary Dinos program where the team was ranked 3rd and 5th nationally in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) from 1999-2001.The dream of playing professional volleyball presented itself when Jon suited up for the FT 1844 club in Freiburg, Germany (2001-2002).  He also went on to play for AAAlunos in Azores Portugal (2002-2004), MSG in Belgium (2004-2005) and Brother Martinus in Amstelveen Netherlands (2005-2007).  After his professional career he took on the role of volleyball agent for Bring It Promotions based in the Netherlands and represented professional volleyball players in 26 different countries at the time of his passing.  Jon was a great ambassador for Red Deer College and Kings Volleyball and will be sorely missed!  It is our pleasure to name this tournament after him!

The KVB Alumni Group is encouraging existing alumni, fellow community supporters and businesses alike to ensure this fundraising initiative is a success on a continuing basis!  Our goal in this inaugural year is to raise more than $10,000 towards the 2010-11 team and with the strength of KVB Alumni over the years, we are very optimistic in reaching that goal.  You can get involved in one or more of the following ways:

1)      Provide monetary sponsorship for event recognition (see attached Exclusive sponsor opportunities).
2)      In Kind donation in the form of prizes, memorabilia, food, beverages, etc… (tax receipt provided for value donated).
3)      Enter a team (see tourney registration details).
4)      Donation to the Jonathon Walsh Memorial Scholarship Fund
5)      Participate in supporting Red Deer College Kings Volleyball and RDC Athletics through donations to enhance the athletic opportunities for current students. Recognition will be given to all sponsors at events in '10/11.

We would like to thank you for your time and interest in this opportunity.   If you have any questions, please contact one of us below.
