RDC Bookstore hosts its 2nd Annual Art Exhibit and Sale
Red Deer, February 3, 2010 – Picture a typical college bookstore and you think of, what else, but textbooks! The RDC Bookstore, however, has a lot more to offer - including playing host to the authentic lampwork beads and Raku pottery of local artists, Leanne Keyes and Helen Swanson, from February 10 to 27.
"This event developed as a collaboration between the Bookstore, Leanne and Helen, the RDC Alumni and Foundation," explains Terri Bateman, RDC Bookstore manager.
Last year’s Form & Flame event was well received and a lot of fun. Moving forward, our goal is to establish an annual event – the RDC Bookstore ArtFest – which will expand to feature and support not only local artists but also musicians, authors and other talents, including RDC alumni, staff and students!
An Opening Gala for ArtFest will be held on Thursday, February 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the RDC Bookstore. This will be the public’s first chance to view the artwork, as well as meet the artists, win door prizes and enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres. New highlights this year include entertainment by alumni folk musician, Lisa Heinrichs, and an exclusive preview of student artwork from upcoming RDC fundraiser, Affairs of the Arts (February 27). There is no admission; all are welcome. We hope you join us!
