Early Learning & Child Care Outreach Certificate Program

Students interested in becoming Early Learning and Child Care professionals, but unable to attend college full-time on campus, can access training through RDC courses in several ways --  as part-time on-campus students, or as distance students: through alternate delivery (Certificate Program) or through on-line delivery (Diploma Program).

Admission Requirements for ELCC Certificate Distance Program 

Mature students who enter into the ELCC Certificate Program in distance do not have to meet on-campus admission requirements. Instead, everyone is conditionally accepted and given an opportunity to demonstrate their ability to handle coursework. Upon successful completion of two ELCC courses, and the recommendation of the chairperson, they may be admitted to the Early Learning & Child Care Program.

Government Certification

Completion of an ELCC Certificate will give students Child Development Worker Certificate from the provincial government.

Early Learning & Child Care Outreach Diploma Program

RDC is part of an exciting partnership with eCampus Alberta. Early Learning and Child Care Diploma is offered completely online. Students may enter the online diploma program at the beginning of each term and by using online delivery, diploma students are able to fit course work into their busy schedules. While there are weekly deadlines, students may work on the assignments any time during that week. This allows students to work while taking courses toward a ELCC Diploma and a Child Development Supervisor Certification within Alberta.

Admission Requirements for ELCC Diploma Outreach Program

Students must have an ELCC Certificate or equivalent before beginning this program. (ELCC 305 and ELCC 309 do not have this prerequisite.)

Government Certification

Completion of the ELCC Diploma Program will give students a Child Development Supervisor Certificate from the provincial government.
