Red Deer College was recently honoured by the Red Deer Construction Association (RDCA) during their Annual Central Alberta Commercial Construction Awards.  As a recipient of the RDCA 2016 Partnership Award, Red Deer College was recognized for the numerous initiatives that continue to improve the relationship between the College and the local construction industry.   The award is a result of a nomination and selection from the RDCA Board of Directors and is presented yearly to a formal partner that has demonstrated impact and influence within the local construction industry.

Dr. Paulette Hanna, Vice President Academic at Red Deer College, is proud of the diverse work the College contributed.  “With representatives from the School of Trades and Technologies, Continuing Education, Career and Employment Services as well as Applied Research and Innovation being recognized, it speaks to the numerous and meaningful ways we work with our community and the benefit that it ultimately brings to our students”.

Joel Gingrich, Dean of the School of Trades and Technologies, attended the event on behalf of RDC and sees benefit to the partnership for both parties.  “RDC’s partnership with RDCA means we are able to learn from their organization and membership, finding ways to enhance learning experiences for our students and employees.  Similarly, our goal is to help RDCA offer value to their members through access to resources, research opportunities, and additional training by accessing RDC’s facilities, technology, people and networks”.

Over the past year, Red Deer College has contributed a number of different activities and initiatives that continue to improve the relationship with the local construction industry.  Some of the activities of note include:  Entrepreneur Expo, Career Expo, Skills Canada competitions, Summer Trades camps, bringing the Project Management for Construction Certificate to Red Deer as well as working with companies to adapt and innovate new technologies for industry.
