An Exciting New Chapter for RDC
Red Deer College is proud to open the doors to our vibrant and inclusive new facility, the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris.
Teaching and learning is at the heart of what we do at the College, and our new state-of-the-art Centre is an important part of RDC’s journey to become a recognized university. Throughout the building, you will find classrooms and labs dedicated to these activities. Many of these areas are in the Donald Health & Wellness Centre, a wing within the new Centre.
Supporting Health and Wellness for Central Albertans
Community members, organizations, athletic teams and recreational enthusiasts will all benefit from the dynamic opportunities in the beautiful and accessible Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. We invite you to check out all the Centre has to offer, including:

The New Home for RDC Athletics
In 2018, RDC Athletics will continue its legacy of excellence in the new Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. Student-athletes from all 17 teams will benefit from the training and support services in the facility. Plus, the Kings and Queens Basketball, Volleyball and Hockey teams will practice and compete in the new Centre.
From March 6 to 9, 2019, RDC will host the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Volleyball National Championship in the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. Featuring the top eight teams from across the nation, the championship will provide a tremendous opportunity for central Albertans to enjoy elite volleyball competition as they cheer on the RDC Kings Volleyball team.

Legacy Building for the 2019 Canada Winter Games
From February 15 to March 3, 2019, the Centre will be a competition venue for five sports during the 2019 Canada Winter Games. RDC is honoured to partner with the 2019 Canada Winter Games Host Society and the City of Red Deer to host this major national event, and the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre has been named the legacy building for this historic national event.
Creating RDC’s New Centre
The planning, design and construction of RDC’s Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre took place over many years and involved thousands of people. The first site work for the Centre began in the fall of 2015, and substantial completion for construction was reached on June 19, 2018.
