Shaping Our Future is a forward-looking initiative that will support the long-term needs of our region's learners, providing the opportunities they need to contribute to a thriving economy and a growing region.
Shaping Our Future is playing an integral role in major initiatives at Red Deer College, including the construction of the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris, increased learning opportunities provided through our seven new Schools, and our efforts to attain degree-granting status.
A $30 million fundraising goal has been established for the Shaping Our Future initiative. Major donors have already stepped forward in support of this crucial project for our communities and we are inviting the support of businesses, individuals, and government entities as we seek to reach this ambitious goal in support of central Alberta's post-secondary future.
Shaping Our Future will require a full community effort. We invite you to join us in this exciting endeavour that will reshape the possibilities for our learners and prepare a new generation with the skills and knowledge they need to lead our region into the future.
As we embark on the largest fundraising initiative in our history, we are privileged to have a team of volunteers who are lending their expertise and community connections to support the ongoing fundraising efforts in support of the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris. For more information on these community leaders, please view the Shaping Our Future Volunteer Cabinet.
Supporting our Schools
RDC's seven Schools are creating community connections and growing the opportunities available to our learners. With faculty expertise, combined with community and industry connections, each School works to prepare our learners with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in their lives and careers.
Shaping Our Future is playing an essential role in supporting each School as they work to provide a cutting-edge learning experience.
The Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris
The Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre will provide a broad range of valuable new opportunities for our learners. More than a gym, more than a rink and more than an ordinary recreation centre, this multi-use facility will also provide our College and our region with a comprehensive venue for teaching and learning, athletic, recreational and community activities, all vital components for the good health and well-being of central Albertans. The Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre will be located on RDC's main campus, adjacent to 32nd Street and the Queen Elizabeth Highway 2, with full accessibility for learners and others living in central Alberta communities and beyond.

Furthering the case for degree-granting status
The Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre/Centre des Jeux du Canada Gary W. Harris will play an essential role in our community's desire for RDC to offer our own degrees. The added spaces will provide our existing programs with the resources needed for continued growth, new programming opportunities will emerge, and enhanced community partnership opportunities will be revealed, all adding to the strength of our case for this important next step. This change in status would enable our institution to grant its own degrees, greatly increasing the post-secondary possibilities within central Alberta, on top of the many programming opportunities that RDC already offers.
