Biography

Amy has been a nurse educator since February 2015. She began her journey as a part-time clinical instructor in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program and moved to a sessional position in September 2015. In November 2018 she received her Masters of Science in Nursing degree with a focus on nursing education. In December 2020 she moved into a continuous position in the BScN program. Amy completed her Canadian Certified Nurse Educator (CCNE) Certification in June 2023. 

Amy has been a registered nurse in Central Alberta for 19 years, having graduated from Red Deer College’s BScN program in 2003. While she has worked in various areas of nursing, she has spent most of her career in orthopedics. Her interest in nursing education began and grew while precepting nursing students from Red Deer College’s four-year nursing program

While working with students is still a passion for Amy, mentoring new faculty in Red Deer Polytechnic’s nursing programs has become another area of interest. As faculty navigator for the nursing programs, Amy works with new faculty in transitioning from nurses to educators.
