Indigenous Culture Camp

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting the 2nd Indigenous Culture Camp in collaboration with the Red Deer Public Schools and Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools on our campus this year.

The Indigenous Culture Camp will provide educators with authentic teaching and learning opportunities to listen to Indigenous knowledge keepers and Elders. Learning will occur outdoors in tipis, Métis trapper's tents or an Inuit tupiq.

The registration process will begin at 8:30 am on Thursday, May 30, and the welcome ceremony will start at 9 am on both days.

• Cree Teachings - Tipi, Medicine and Relationships
• Medicine Wheel and Child Development
• Connection to the Land Impacts of the Loss of Land
• Blackfoot Teachings History, Traditions and Language
• Nakota Culture, Way of Life and Worldview
• Land Based Education (Thursday)
• Métis Dancing and Fiddle Music (Thursday)
• Métis History and Story (Friday)
• Powwow Dance Demonstration (Friday)
